Eswatini is a small state of about 17km2 with a population of one million inhabitants. The country presents many challenges related to Climate Change. Among these, extreme meteorological phenomena - with long periods of drought and floods - contribute in aggravating the lack of water, create problems of safety, health and lack of electricity.
In 2017, the then Italian Ministry of the Environment, Land and Sea, (today MASE), and the Eswatini Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, signed an agreement in the field of climate change and sustainable energy. As part of this agreement, two projects were approved and launched, which provide for the energy requalification of a hospital and two ministerial buildings, and a weather alert system.
