Rome, April 11, 2019 – The Third meeting of the Joint Committee, established within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the MATTM and the Department of Water and Sanitation, (DWS), of South Africa took place at the Africa Center for Climate and Sustainable Development (ACSD).
During the meeting numerous project proposals were presented and discussed, elaborated by the South African institutions and local bodies involved such as: DWS, Water Research Commission, Rand Water, EWSETA, the Province of Gauteng and the Province of the Free State. The proposals will be reviewed, summarized and resubmitted during the next meetings of the Joint Committee.
After the meeting, the delegations carried out a technical visit to the private areas of the Trevi Fountain, managed by ACEA SpA, and to the piezometric well of the Vergine Aqueduct at Trinità dei Monti.
In the previous days, (April, 9 and 10l), the South African delegation, accompanied by ARPAE and MATTM, carried out technical visits, in the Emilia Romagna Region, at various plants, including the plant for the production of drinking water in Ravenna managed by Romagna Acque - Società delle Fonti, the Forlì remote control center managed by the Hera Group, and the CER Consortium, (Canale Emiliano Romagnolo), in Bologna, where the seasonal forecasting system of the ARPAE was presented, in the context of the so-called climate services. Its possible reproducibility and adaptability to the South African context was thoroughly discussed.
The delegation has also visited the Ferrara Tecnopolo, where the professors of the University Department of Energy have presented activities and projects in progress, also in the African continent, followed by some speeches by representatives of the private sector such as RemTech, HERA, Archliving , Petroltecnica.
