Albania

The Cooperation Agreement, signed on 19th December 2007 by the Italian Ministry for the Environment and the then Ministry of Energy, Trade and Economy of the Albanian Republic, today the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, embraces the energy efficiency and renewable energy themes.

In this context, two particularly significant hydroelectric projects in the field of renewable energy in Albania were launched in 2010: one proposed by HYDROENERGY and another by FERAR ENERGY. The HYDROENERGY project was successfully completed in 2014, is presently operational and in full production. In addition, it has also received the CDM registration from the UNFCCC.

The FERAR ENERGY project has not yet entered the implementation phase.
