Youth4Climate Initiative
Youth4Climate is a global initiative that puts young people at the center of climate action. Since 2021, it has supported new generations with tools, resources, and opportunities to transform innovative ideas into concrete actions, promoting leadership and collaboration at the international level. Thanks to the collaboration between the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Youth4Climate has established itself as a platform capable of inspiring and mobilizing thousands of young people from around the world.
The three pillars of Youth4Climate
The Young4Climate initiative is developed through three main components:
• Annual event: an opportunity to celebrate the results achieved, create synergies, and foster networking between young people from around the world, institutions, and international stakeholders
• Virtual Platform: : an accessible digital space designed to facilitate the creation of partnerships, host training events, promote consultations, and share useful information.
• Solutions: a program dedicated to young people from developing countries, ages 18 to 29, to implement innovative projects addressing the challenges of the climate crisis. The funds are managed by a UNDP facility, and collaborations are foreseen with various partners—including institutions, national organizations, and the private sector—who offer mentoring, training, and other types of support.
Key Results of the Youth4Climate Initiative
Since its launch, the Youth4Climate initiative has achieved several important milestones:
• Major international events: Milan (2021), New York (2022), Rome (2023), and Turin (2024), which have solidified the role of the initiative as a platform for exchange and collaboration in addressing climate challenges.
• Funding of 100 projects: selected in strategic areas such as renewable energy, climate education, urban sustainability, food, and agriculture.
• Capacity-building: programs in collaboration with international actors to strengthen the skills and leadership of the young people involved.
• A global network always connected: thousands of young activists engaged through a global communication platform and the launch of a dedicated web application designed to amplify participation and collaboration
