Geographical areas of intervention
The Fund can finance interventions in 141 countries receiving public development assistance identified by the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) (https://www.oecd.org/dac/financing-sustainable-development/development-finance-standards/DAC-List-of-ODA-Recipients-for-reporting-2022-23-flows.pdf), with priority on the macro-areas of Africa and the Middle East.

Types of eligible projects
The eligibility of projects for the Italian Climate Fund is assessed according to the OECD "Rio Marker" methodology (https://www.oecd.org/dac/environment-development/Revised%20climate%20marker%20handbook_FINAL.pdf). The climate impact of each project is assessed ex-ante and monitored ex-post with sector-specific indicators.
Tools
The Fund operates with a wide range of instruments, aimed at serving different types of counterparties :
- Financing for initiatives promoted by companies, (corporate or project finance vehicle company, of any nationality)
- Financing to the public sector, (governments, central banks, state public bodies of partner countries)
- Financing and guarantees in favor of financial institutions
- Investments in funds
- Issue of guarantees
